Harborough’s First Young Trader Market Hailed Big Success

Market Harborough’s first Young Trader Market has been hailed a big success.
Ten entrepreneurs had stalls on The Square on Saturday, selling everything from jewellery to clothing and artwork.

The event was organised by the District Council’s market and events team, as part of a national campaign aimed at attracting new blood and young recruits into the markets industry.
It also saw the stalls judged on the day, with Alice Smith from AVMS Art winning first prize and going through to a regional final.
The judges who trade at Harborough Market had 90 years of business experience between them and were John Steward from John Steward Menswear) Kris Moore from John Ross Butchers and Sue Mason from Harborough Market Refills.
A similar event is now being planned and Cllr Barbara Johnson, chairman of Harborough District Council, who visited the market, told HFM she was impressed by all the young traders:
