Harborough Charity Guitar Sells For £7,000!

A guitar signed by some of the world’s leading musicians has sold for £7,000 at auction for Leicestershire’s Rainbows Children’s Hospice
The Fender Stratocaster is embellished with signatures including Pete Townsend, Alice Cooper, Gary Moore, Don McLean, Eric Clapton, Brian May and Jimmy Page.
The sale at Bonhams Auction House in London yesterday, to an anonymous buyer, marks the end of a decade-long charity campaign by a Market Harborough fundraiser Dave Allen.

Dave launched the project for the Rainbows Children’s Hospice in 2007, but the guitar got lost in transit just months later.
Amazingly, it re-surfaced earlier this year after appearing for sale on E-Bay and after Police recovered the instrument, he was reunited with it.
Since then Dave got more big names to sign.
The money raised from the sale will all go to Rainbows, some of which will be used as part of Christmas activities at the hospice in Loughborough, which cares for youngsters with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.
