A fundraising drive has been launched to help the manager of The Roebuck in Market Harborough, who lost all his belongings in Friday night’s major fire.

Andy Lapsley lived above the pub and has been left with nothing but the clothes he was wearing.

He discovered the blaze just before 11pm and has been praised by the fire service for his quick actions in evacuating staff and customers.

An on-line fundraising page, set-up by his sister. aims to raise £1,000 to support him.

Over 30 firefighters battled for nearly three hours to bring the fire under control – it’s left the building severely damaged.

An investigation into what caused the fire is continuing.
