Fernie Hunt Issue Statement After Assault Allegation

The Fernie Hunt has released a statement, after allegations a hunt saboteur was attacked during its meet on Saturday.

It says it is not aware of any incidents taking place and that hunts across the country are regularly subjected to spurious allegations.

A woman alleges she was assaulted in a field off Saddington Road in Mowsley and the window of a saboteur’s car was smashed in Theddingworth.

The spokesman added: “The Fernie Hunt does not condone any form of violence, even when faced with extreme provocation, personal harassment and malicious trespass.

“The hunt is not aware of any incidents relating to its’ activities on Saturday 24th November however we will of course assist the police with any enquiries relating to the arrangements which we put in place for that day, to enable our activities to be conducted in a safe, legal and sensible way.”
