Fears over mystery pet illness in Market Harborough

Pet owners in Market Harborough are being urged to stay alert after a number of dogs became seriously ill in the same part of the town.

Residents say at least 11 dogs and one cat have suffered sudden sickness, diarrhea and bleeding, with several of the reported cases linked to the Western Avenue area on the southern estate.

Tragically, one dog and the cat have died, while another dog remains seriously ill following emergency veterinary treatment.

The cause of the illnesses has not been confirmed, but concerned owners fear a toxic substance, such as rat poison, may be responsible.

They are asking anyone whose pet has suffered similar symptoms to come forward to help establish whether there is a wider issue.

Pet owners are also being urged to seek immediate veterinary attention if their animals suddenly become unwell.
