Expansion Of Market Harborough Taking Shape

Written by on 13th March 2019

Work is nearing completion on the first part of the massive expansion of Market Harborough.

The first area of new houses has been built on Airfield Farm off Leicester Road, with the first show home set to open in a few weeks’ time.

Breheny Civil Engineering, who are carrying out the infrastructure works on the site, including roads and drainage, has released this video to show the scale of the work that has taken place so far:

Eventually 1,500 homes will be built on the land between Leicester Road and Lubenham as well as a Primary School, country park and local centre with shops.

Developers William Davis Homes and Taylor Wimpey East Midlands will complete the development over the next 10 years.

Their ‘Section 106’ contributions – towards improving community facilities – total over £14,000.

The money will be released at different trigger points, as more houses are built at the development. Contributions include more than £3m towards the cost of the new primary school and contributions towards healthcare, highway improvements, public transport and secondary school places.

The estate will be accessed from Leicester Road via a new bridge that has been built over the canal.
