A Market Harborough drug dealer has had over £1.8m of his ill-gotten gains seized from him.

Paul Johnson, 32, who was jailed for eight years in February, appeared back at Leicester Crown Court for a Proceeds Of Crime Hearing.

Operating under the guise of a tea trader, he distributed Class A drugs from his home on Northampton Road, after they were imported from several countries and delivered to other homes he rented in Market Harborough and Desborough.

Judge Martin Hurst rubber stamped the Proceeds of Crime Act hearing by announcing that Paul Johnson had benefited to the tune of £2,183,304, although the amount available for confiscation, mainly in frozen bank accounts, was set at £1,837,601 which the defendant was said to have “already signed over.”

The judge also ordered a Range Rover car, worth £20,000, to be seized from Johnson.
