Cat Rescue Mission In Town Centre

A cat was rescued after getting stuck around 20ft up a tree in Market Harborough town centre.

The moggy named Dante got stranded after scaling the tall tree outside the Phase Eight shop on the High Street.

Dante the cat was stuck at the top of a tall tree in the town centre.

Concerned members of the public alerted Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service this morning and firefighters arrived on the scene at around 10.30am to start a  rescue operation which took two-and-a-half hours.

With Dante proving difficult to coax down via a ladder, a passing roofer in a cherry picker offered to help and the male cat was eventually rescued just before 1pm.

There were cheers from people who had gathered to watch the rescue operation as the cat was brought down to safety.

Dante escaped from the ordeal uninjured and has now been reunited with his relieved owner.
