Major Housing Development Plans Go on Show Today

Residents can find out more about plans for up to 1,750 new homes to the north of Market Harborough at a public drop-in event today.

Developers Hallam Land and William Davis Homes are holding the consultation at Wellington Place Primary School, on Airfield Road, between 4pm and 7pm.

The proposals cover land east of the B6047 Harborough Road towards Great Bowden and south of Gallow Field Road, next to Airfield Business Park.

The proposed sites for the new developments

Alongside the new homes, the plans include a primary school, land for a secondary school, allotments, parks and play areas.

Residents will be able to meet the project team, find out more about the proposals and give their views.

However, there are concerns about how Market Harborough’s roads, schools and other services will cope with further housing growth to the north of the town.

Councillor David Page says the town does not have the infrastructure to support development on this scale:

The sites have been identified for development in Harborough District Council’s new local plan, and an outline planning application is due to be submitted this winter.

The developers say the consultation will give local people an opportunity to comment on the proposals before the application is submitted.
