Case Of Man From Great Glen Accused Of Terror Offences Heard At Old Bailey

The case of man from Great Glen charged with a number of terrorism offences has been heard at the Old Bailey today.

Hashim Chaudhary, 27, of Chestnut Drive, is accused of being a member of the so-called Islamic State, and faces seven charges, including sending money to allow captured militants to escape prison camps in Syria and compiling and distributing a terrorist publication.

Chaudary, who was arrested and detained under the Terrorism Act last month, did not appear at the hearing in London, but was represented by a solicitor.

The prosecution alleges that he used Bitcoin in a bid to transfer sums abroad.

Chaudhary has been remanded in custody to appear a Nottingham Crown Court in March next year for a plea hearing.
