Cannabis Growing Equipment Dumped On Country Lane
Written by HFM News on 6th November 2020
Cannabis growing equipment and unwanted sections of the drug-producing plants have been dumped at a flytipping hotspot near Scraptoft.
They were found along with a pile of household waste in Covert Lane.
Harborough Council contractors have removed the rubbish and are sifting through it for clues that could lead them to the person responsible.

A spokesman said: “The fly-tip was reported (on 29 Oct) by a member of the public via our online tip-off address and was cleared the next day.
“We take fly-tipping very seriously in the district and we would appeal for any information people may have about this incident.
“ We would remind people that if they do not dispose of their rubbish legally they can face a fine of £300 or more.
“ Always check that anyone removing rubbish from your home has a valid waste carriers licence by looking on the Environment Agency website.”
Meanwhile, a woman who responded to a flyer put through her letterbox about rubbish removal has been fined £300, after the man she paid to take away her waste dumped it in a country lane near Houghton on the Hill.
She was handed a fixed penalty notice by Harborough District Council, after failing to check whether the person was registered to carry and dispose of her waste.
The man, who she paid to take away her renovation waste, flytipped the household rubbish on Gaulby Lane in September – but the council’s enviro-crime team traced it back to the resident in Leicester.
The woman, in her 40s, admitted transferring her waste to an unlicensed carrier without making any ‘duty of care’ checks.
An investigation is ongoing to trace the man responsible for the fly-tip.
