Campaign Launched To Fight New Homes Plan

A campaign has been launched to fight plans for up to 90 new homes on the edge of Lubenham.
Residents say the development off Laughton Road would increase the village’s population by at least a quarter and there are concerns about how existing infrastructure like roads and the village school would cope.

Developer Barratt David Wilson Homes unveiled the plan to build the homes on ten acres of fields earlier this year.
The site is not identified for development in Harborough District Council’s Local Plan or Lubenham’s Neighbourhood Plan, however HDC cannot currently demonstrate a five-year housing land supply, meaning it is subject to speculative development plans.
The approved Neighbourhood Plan details around 65 new houses in the village over a 20 year period.
A petition urging the council to reject the plan has been launched by villager Hugh Lovesy, who spoke to HFM:
