Kibworth Tip Set For Temporary Closure
Written by HFM News on 19th October 2026
Kibworth’s recycling and household waste site is set to close temporarily for essential improvement works, although the start date and duration have yet to be confirmed.
Leicestershire County Council says the work is part of a programme covering three recycling and household waste sites across the county during the autumn and winter.
However, no further details have been released about what work is needed at Kibworth, when the closure will begin or how long it will last.

It is also unclear whether the household waste and recycling site at Market Harborough will open on additional days to help accommodate residents while Kibworth is closed.
Councillor Adam Tilbury, the county council’s cabinet member for environment and waste, said the improvements would help ensure the sites remain safe, accessible and fit for purpose.
“These essential improvements will ensure our recycling & household waste sites remain safe, accessible, and fit for purpose now and into the future,” he said.
“While we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closures, the works are necessary investments. I thank residents for their understanding and encourage them to use their nearest alternative site during the works.”
The other sites to close temporarily are in Melton and Mountsorrel.
