Developers have launched an appeal against the rejection of controversial plans to build 28 new homes between Kibworth Beauchamp and Smeeton Westerby.
A government planning inspector will now review Harborough District Council’s decision to refuse the scheme for land off Smeeton Road.

The site proposed for the new homes
More than 200 objections were submitted against the proposals.
The plans were rejected over concerns about the loss of separation between the two villages and highway safety.
Concerns were also expressed about the proximity of the site to electricity pylons.
The Planning Inspectorate will now consider whether Harborough District Council’s decision should be upheld or overturned.
