Appeal After Thief Steals Young Harborough Scout Leader’s Equipment

An appeal for information has been launched after a thief stole a young Harborough scout leader’s hiking and camping equipment worth hundreds of pounds.
It was taken at around 2.30pm yesterday after Connor Hurst left two large rucksacks outside his auntie’s house on Rectory Lane in Little Bowden.
The 15-year-old had just returned from helping at the 1st Bowdens Scouts’ weekend expedition trip in Derbyshire and left the bags unattended for just a few minutes.
CCTV footage shows the thief – a man walking with a crutch – carrying the bags up the road.
Connor, a student at Robert Smyth Academy, had saved up to buy the equipment, which together with clothing and other items is worth about £400.

It is hoped someone may have seen the rucksacks, including a distinctive yellow one or the equipment discarded somewhere.
Leicestershire Police say enquiries into the theft are continuing and anyone who has any information which could assist their investigation, should contact officers on 101, quoting incident 413 of 28 April.
