Animal Cruelty Figures ‘Heart-Breaking,’ Say RSCPA

The RSPCA has described latest animal cruelty figures as ‘heart-breaking’
The charity dealt with 206 reports of intentional harm against animals in Leicestershire last year and 128 incidents in Northamptonshire, including beatings, poisonings and mutilations, such as ear cropping.
Incidents in the Harborough District included 18 dogs and puppies being found starving and in an emaciated condition in the back of a van stopped by Police near Tilton on The Hill and over 160 rabbits discovered in overcrowded conditions in a garage in Great Easton.

Nationally, the number of reports made to the RSPCA cruelty line about intentional harm to animals increased by 14%, with 12,582 reported last year compared to 11,012 in 2021.
As a result, the charity is bracing for one of its busiest summers ever, with more people reporting cruelty to animals from July to September.

The RSPCA has launched its Cancel Out Cruelty campaign, to raise funds to help its frontline rescue teams continue to save animals from cruelty and abuse and to raise awareness about how to stop cruelty to animals for good.
