Alan’s 850-Mile Trek Helps Transform Community Hub
Written by HFM News on 5th January 2021
A community hub in Kibworth has been transformed thanks to help from a villager who walked 850 miles during the first lockdown last year.
Alan Pyke, 82, raised over £4,000 towards the work at The Well, by trekking the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats, in laps around the Stuart Court retirement complex, where he lives.
The venue on the High Street, which includes a cafe, has been modernised, including major improvements to the kitchen.
The Well has also been able to expand into an empty shop next door to its base, to provide more space for its Foodbank service, which was launched last year.
