Crack-down on Knife Crime

A police operation aimed at continuing the crack-down on knife crime in the Harborough District has taken place.
Officers paid a surprise visit to Market Harborough Railway Station on Thursday morning (25th October) to set up an airport style security scanner at the entrance. It was to check if any members of the public passing through it were carrying knives.
Police also spoke to commuters to raise awareness – and to give out knife crime prevention advice – as part of the force’s #LivesNotKnives campaign.
The “knife arch” was backed by East Midlands Trains – who say the safety and security of their passengers and staff is always their absolute priority.
In fact, no knives at all were detected during the five hour police operation.
