Lutterworth Business Counts Cost Of Ram-Raid

Ram raid1Ram-raiders have stolen tools and caused damage totaling over £50,000 after smashing their way into the Plantool Hire shop in Lutterworth early this morning.

They struck at about 5.20am, using a Mitsubishi shogun 4×4, stolen from Leicester last night, to smash a large front window of the Leicester Road premises to get in.

It collided with another car as the thieves tried to make their escape and was abandoned at the scene – no one was injured in the crash.

They then fled it two other vehicles – a Ford Focus and Ford Transit Van with a quantity of tools.

A number of brand new Hilti-branded drills and breakers were stolen, many of which are battery tools and will be useless to the thieves, as the batteries and chargers are kept off site.

Equipment in the showroom was also damaged.

Police are appealing for help – a spokesman told Hfm: “We would urge anyone who may hram raid2ave witnessed the incident to get in touch. Did you see three vehicles approaching the area or two vehicles driving away during the early hours of this morning? If so please contact us.”
