A field fire beside the A6 near Desborough led to the road being closed for around an hour last night.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at around 6.20pm to reports of a fire in a field adjacent to the main road.
Three fire crews attended the incident after flames spread through stubble into nearby trees and bushes.

Firefighters used hose-reel jets, beaters and wildfire backpacks to bring the blaze under control. By around 7pm, the main fire had been extinguished, with crews remaining on site to dampen down hotspots.
While firefighters tackled the blaze, Northamptonshire Police closed the A6 because smoke was drifting across the carriageway. The road reopened at around 8pm.
One fire crew returned later in the evening to carry out further checks and ensure any remaining hotspots were fully extinguished.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
