Small Plane Crashes Near Northamptonshire Village

Two people have been taken to hospital after a small plane has crashed into a field near a Northamptonshire village.

The aircraft came down off Moulton Road between Pitsford and Moulton shortly after 3.45pm today, prompting a major emergency response.

Police, fire crews and East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: “We were called to a report of light aircraft crash near Pitsford, at around 3.50pm on Friday, June 5.

“Two people have been taken to hospital for treatment, and an investigation into what happened has begun. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch have been informed.”

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews were called to reports of a light aircraft coming down in a field, and on arrival firefighters helped to close off nearby roads to ensure emergency vehicles could access the scene.

“Two people have been evacuated from the aircraft, and have been left in the care of paramedics.

“The Fire Service remains at the scene and is continuing to assist police and ambulance.”

EMAS said the two patients were taken to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the immediate area.
