Traffic Lights Restored After Springfield Street Crash

The main traffic lights at the entrance to the Sainsbury’s car park on Springfield Street in Market Harborough are now back up and running.
They were repaired yesterday afternoon after a suspected drink-driver crashed into one of the signal units early on Saturday, forcing the lights to be switched off.

Temporary lights had been in place since the collision, but had been causing long delays for motorists.
A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the legal alcohol limit after police were called to the collision at 2.30am on Saturday.
He was later released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
