Warning Over Rail Disruption

Harborough’s rail users are being warned of disruption this weekend because of engineering works.

There are no direct trains to London, with passengers having to take buses between Luton and Hitchin to continue journeys into the capital.

East Midlands Railway is urging people to plan ahead, as it will be the same next weekend too.

This will be the fifth and sixth in a series of nine weekends of planned engineering work, including upgrades connected with the electrification of the Midland Mainline.

Philippa Cresswell, customer experience director for EMR, said: “We recommend customers planning to travel to or from London over the next two weekends to check their journey in advance of travelling. Information about changes for both weekends is available on the EMR website.

“We would like to thank our customers for their patience whilst Network Rail upgrade the overhead power lines.

“This work will greatly benefit our customers in the future with more reliable journeys to and from London.”
