Apology Over Delay To Streetlight Repairs

Sainsbury’s has apologised for delays in fixing broken streetlights in the car park of its store in Market Harborough.
Safety concerns were first raised by customers last autumn about areas of the car park off Springfield Street being very dark at night.
The supermarket pledged to act, but as yet no improvements have been made.

All the lights in the car park are to be upgraded, but the supermarket chain has not confirmed when.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson told HFM: “We are working to replace the lighting in our Market Harborough store car park.
“We are sorry for the delay in completing the work and appreciate our customers’ ongoing patience.”
Although owned by Sainsbury’s, the car park is manged by Harborough District Council.
A council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the planned works to replace the lighting in the car park and understand Sainsbury’s are investing in the replacement of all of the lighting rather than repairing the defective lights, which has delayed the implementation of the work.”
