Efforts To Tackle Shoplifting Increase Continue

Efforts to tackle an increase in shoplifting in Market Harborough are continuing.
Police have charged a number of people with theft offences who are now going through the court system and last week a man was jailed for stealing goods worth over £6,000 from Sainsbury’s.

Market Harborough Town Centre
There were over 230 thefts from shops in Market Harborough last year – an increase of 78% on 2023.
A new app-based system called DISC was launched in the town last autumn to allow traders to easily share information with each other and Police about theft offences.
Harborough District Council is funding it for two years.
