Historic buildings which were home to banks in Market Harborough have been recognised for their heritage value.

The former HSBC, Barclays and Natwest premises have been added to a special list held by Harborough District Council.

All the branches have closed over the past two years and the buildings remain empty, although plans are afoot to convert the former NatWest premises on St Mary’s Road into a restaurant.

The former railway station in Kibworth Beauchamp and the airfield in Husbands Bosworth are among other places to be added to the list of non-designated heritage assets, which enable the significance of any building or site to be better considered in planning applications affecting the building or site or its setting.
