Traffic Lights Renewal To Cause Delays On Springfield Street

Drivers are being warned to expect delays for three weeks when traffic lights on a busy road in Market Harborough are replaced.

The work is due to begin on Springfield Street on Monday, at the junction with the Sainsbury’s car park.

Temporary traffic lights will be put in place while the main signals are changed and signs have been placed at the junction, warning drivers to expect delays.

The work is due to start on Monday

A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council told HFM: “The traffic signal equipment in Springfield Street is being replaced as part of our renewal programme.

“Traffic signal installations generally have a ‘design life’ of approximately 15-20 years, after which it is standard practice to replace them to reduce maintenance costs and fault occurrences, as well as improving the reliability and efficiency of the lights.

“Newer traffic signal technology also have lower energy consumption, which in turn reduces carbon dioxide emissions.”
