Written by HFM News on 4th July 2023
A fundraising appeal has been launched in memory of an inspirational Market Harborough man who died from a rare type of cancer earlier this year aged 35.
Family and friends of Ben Johnson have joined forces to raise £10,000 to upgrade healthcare facilities in a village in Ghana, where Ben previously helped build a library, as part of charity work in the West African country.

Various events have already taken place and more are planned, including a three-peaks challenge and fundraising day at the Laura Lane beauty studio in Market Harborough this Saturday.
Ben remained extremely positive during his illness, speaking openly about it to raise awareness and even did his own fundraising for charity while receiving treatment.
His brother Joe spoke to Nick Shaw about wanting to continue his legacy:

Ben was part of a team to build a library in the village in Ghana
HFM presenter Emma B will be among those taking part in the three-peaks challenge to support the fundraising, as she was a friend of Ben.
