Last Chance To Apply For Coronation Road Closures

Written by on 28th March 2023

There are just a few days left for people wanting to hold street parties for the King’s Coronation in May to take up the offer of free road closure applications.

Over 80 have so far been received by Leicestershire County Council, including a number from in and around Market Harborough.

The deadline for applications, which would normally cost up to £650, is this Friday.

County council leader Nick Rushton said the decision to waive road closure fees will help to support villages and communities who want to organise events.

He said: “The King’s Coronation will be an historic event for the country – and the county of Leicestershire – and we want to help people to celebrate and encourage communities to come together to mark this special occasion.”
