Police are continuing a campaign to urge motorists to slow down and pass horse riders and cyclists safely.
The latest ‘Close Pass’ operation was held near Hallaton, following concerns expressed by the community, with other rural locations set to be visited across Harborough over the coming weeks.
The campaign, being supported by volunteer Special Constables, aims to educate motorists to be considerate around vulnerable road users, by passing them wide and slow, the recommended distance is 1.5 metres.
Stuart Mottershaw, Leicestershire Police Special Inspector said, “Our operation was supported by the British Horse Society and between us we spoke to a number of horse riders and cyclists along with distributing Share the Road merchandise and safety advice. We were well received by the local community and thanked for addressing their road safety concerns.”
‘Share the Road’ signs have been placed at various roadside locations in the Harborough District to highlight the campaign.
