CCTV Released After Heartless Thief Targets Pensioner

Police have released CCTV images after an elderly woman had her purse stolen in Lutterworth, which contained £740.
Officers want to speak to the man following the theft, at around midday last Tuesday, in Church Street.

A heartless thief pretended to be a good Samaritan, by helping the lady, aged 86, down steps outside a cafe, not long after she had withdrawn her pension from the Post Office.
He took the purse from her shopping trolley, removed the money and then discarded it.
PC Debby Weidacher, who is investigating, said: “This was an exceptionally cruel crime at a time when we all need to pull together.
“It happened in the middle of the day when many people would have been out and about and we are asking anyone who may recognise this man to get in touch.”

People in the town have raised over £1,000 for the victim after an on-line fundraising page was set-up.
