Men Jailed For Robbing Shops At Knife-Point

Two men have been jailed for a total of over 16 years for carrying out knife-point robberies at convenience stores in Market Harborough and Desborough.
They threatened staff with a kitchen knife at Spar on Coventry Road in Market Harborough late on January 13th 2018, before stealing £400 and stamps worth £100.
Four days earlier the pair, who wore face coverings, robbed the Co-Op in Gladstone Street, Desborough, escaping with £162 and cigarettes.
James McClafferty, 37 of Crick Close, Corby and Gary Woods, 36, formerly of Corby and now of HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes, also targeted shops in Broughton and Brigstock in Northamptonshire, during the seven-day crime spree between January 9th and January 16th 2018.
They pleaded not guilty to the crimes, so shop staff had to give evidence in court about the incidents which happened three years ago.
Northampton Crown Court heard a car which McClafferty had borrowed was used in the robberies and a hoodie belonging to Woods was found by police in the getaway vehicle.
Mobile phone evidence also placed McClafferty at the scenes.
Woods was jailed for seven years and nine months and McClafferty was given eight years and nine months after both were found guilty of robbery.
