Unanimous Backing To Make Council Meetings More Accessible

Harborough District Council could become one of the first authorities in the country to make its on-line meetings accessible to people with hearing impairments.

It’s after a motion, calling for sign language or subtitles to be provided on the live broadcasts, was unanimously back by councillors at a meeting last night.

All the council’s public meetings are currently taking place remotely because of the pandemic, with members of the public able to watch proceedings.

The motion was put forward by Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of the opposition, who told Hfm why:
