Developers Appeal Against Harborough District Council

Developers are appealing the decision to refuse planning permission for a new housing estate in Great Bowden.

They are challenging Harborough District Council’s ruling not to allow the redevelopment of the Bowden Fencing site off Leicester Lane, to make way for 33 homes.

Planning permission was refused in June on the grounds the application went against the Great Bowden Neighbourhood Plan and would result in the loss of employment opportunities.

However, permission had been granted at a meeting of the Council’s Planning Committee earlier that month, which was later declared nul-and-void, because a technical failure barred the public from viewing the on-line webcast, meaning all decisions taken were quashed ahead of the meeting being re-held.

A government planning inspector will now review the decision not to allow the plan to go-ahead.
