Unemployment Rises Again In Harborough District

The Coronavirus continues to impact on jobs in the Harborough District, with another increase in unemployment.
2,195 people are out of work and claiming benefits according to official figures out today – 45 more than last month – and more than three times the figure before the lockdown in March.
1210 men and 985 women are unemployed, 3.9% of the working population in the District, with the jobless total at its highest level for nearly 30 years.
Across Leicester and Leicestershire over 36,000 people are currently unemployed – up from 15,000 in March – and in Northamptonshire the figure has risen from 11,500 to over 27,500.
