The New Horizons Café in Market Harborough has closed permanently after serving the town for the past 30 years.

The Market Harborough Baptist Church, which ran the popular venue in Manor Walk, says it can no longer sustain the coffee shop in its current form because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The New Horizons Cafe has shut permanently

The cafe had been closed since March when the lockdown came into force.

Rev Chris Brown, Pastor at the Baptist Church, told Hfm: “It is with great sadness that the New Horizons Cafe will be closing.

“Regrettably, due to COVID-19 we can no longer sustain the cafe in its current form and the difficult decision to close permanently has been taken.

“As a church family, we want to express our deep and sincere gratitude to all our committed staff, volunteers and customers both past and present, who have made this such a warm and welcoming place for so many people over the years. The Cafe has touched the lives of many people and will be sorely missed.

“Yet, as a church family who loves our community, we are already exploring ways in which we can use this space to serve the community in new, helpful and meaningful ways.”
