Burglars Start Fire At ‘Big Barn’ Venue In Ashley

Burglars started a fire after forcing their way into an entertainment venue in Ashley early this morning.

The blaze at the Big Barn off Medbourne Road caused major smoke damage throughout the building and spread to a storage container outside.

Fire crews were called just after 5.30am when a passer-by noticed a large amount of smoke and were able to stop the fire from spreading to the structure of the building.

Owners say electrical items were stolen and they are currently checking if anything else is missing.

Northamptonshire Police say they are investigating the burglary and a scenes of crime forensic examination was carried out this morning.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and want to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious people or vehicles in and around the area early this morning.
