The plan for a new-build leisure centre in Market Harborough could be scrapped in favour of a major redevelopment of the current facility.
Until now, Harborough Council had favoured building a brand new centre, either on the current site, off Northampton Road, or elsewhere.
The latest plan, that would cost £8.75m, includes new-build elements for extra leisure facilities and the potential for a bigger swimming pool.
The impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic on the leisure sector and the authority’s finances are cited among the reasons for the proposed change in direction.
The Council’s Cabinet will be asked to back the move when it meets next week.
