Police Numbers Boosted In & Around Harborough

More Police officers are based in Market Harborough from today.

A new operating model introduced by the Leicestershire Force aims to bring back more local policing to the area.

Response Officers, who were relocated from the Fairfield Road station to Leicester five years ago, as part of cost-cutting, have returned under the new role of Neighbourhood Patrol Officers.

Inspector Siobhan Gorman, who is in charge of the new Harborough, Oadby & Wigston Policing Area, says that will improve response times and provide a better service to victims of crime:

Each of the new Policing areas across the county also have a dedicated CID office, led by a Detective Inspector, meaning a dedicated resource in neighbourhoods for investigating more serious offences locally.

Current Neighbourhood Police officers will continue with their roles in and around Market Harborough.

Harborough Council Leader Phil King is welcoming the change and told Hfm there have been on-going concerns about Police response times since Response officers were moved out of Market Harborough:
