Desborough Burglar Jailed

A burglar who stole jewellery from a house in Desborough has been jailed for four and a half years.

Danny Lane was disturbed by the homeowner after breaking into the house at 11am on January 23^rd and then fled pursuing Police officers in a car.

The 39-year-old, of no fixed abode, was arrested in London and has pleaded guilty to burglary at Northampton Crown Court.

Lead Investigator, PC Mark Edkins, said: “This case shows that if you are intent on committing a burglary within Northamptonshire then you will be dealt with robustly.

“If offenders think that leaving the county makes them untouchable, then think again, as we will be relentless in chasing justice for victims of burglary in Northamptonshire.

“Danny Lane posed a real threat to home owners in this county and he had no choice but to plead guilty at the earliest opportunity because of the weight of evidence against him.

“I am pleased he has been removed from our streets at the earliest opportunity by the Burglary Team, making homes in Northamptonshire safer as a result.”

Operation Crooked is Northamptonshire Police’s campaign to reduce burglary – a top priority for the Force.

As part of the operation, the Burglary Team, which sits within CID, ensure that every burglary victim in Northamptonshire is guaranteed a visit from the police.

They are also working to review and drive-up the quality of investigations, manage and progress forensic hits, hunt down wanted people, organise police patrols in areas of concern and gather intelligence to prevent burglaries before they happen.
