Fraudster Jailed

The former finance director of a Market Harborough tour operator has
been sentenced at Leicester Crown Court after pleading guilty to
swindling his employers.

Jamie Tann’s offences led to the collapse of Diamond Shortbreak Holidays
in 2017.

38 year-old Mr Tann, who comes from Corby, initially appeared in court
last October where he pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud by false
representation – and three counts of false accounting. He also pleaded
guilty to one count of perverting the course of justice.

A police investigation discovered that, between March 2015 and January
2017, Tann had fraudulently caused a total of £685,648 to be paid from
the travel company’s accounts into ones he controlled.

His actions caused such a financial loss to the company that it put them
into administration – with the loss of 78 jobs.

It also left 10,000 holiday makers with no bookings – who had to make
claims against credit card companies to get their money back.

At Leicester Crown Court on Friday (28th February) Tann was sentenced to
a total of three years and four months in prison.
