Burglars have stolen a ‘substantial’ amount of cigarettes worth thousands of pounds from a Market Harborough supermarket.
They smashed their way into the Co-Op on Coventry Road at around 11.40pm last night, through a window and then forced open a cabinet containing the cigarettes.
Police are appealing for information and want to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious people or vehicles in the area of the shop or Commons Car Park.
They are also studying CCTV footage from inside the store and the surrounding area as part of the investigation.
A spokesperson from Central England Co-operative said: “No members of staff were on duty at the time of the incident.
“The store is open for business and we are giving our full support to the police as they conduct their investigation.”
Anyone with information should call Police on 101.
