Northamptonshire Police Restructure

Major plans have been unveiled to restructure Northamptonshire Police –
including a dedicated new policing area for the north of the county.

It’s hoped restructuring the Force along geographical lines “will
deliver more effective, responsive and visible policing to communities
across Northamptonshire.”

The new model, to take effect this autumn, will in fact see the creation
of two local policing areas – in the north and the west of the county –
which aim to “ensure better ownership, accountability and flexibility
and enable the Force to manage demand better.”

Each area will be headed by a superintendent – and be aligned with the
new unitary authorities due to replace the existing County, District and
Borough councils in April 2021.
