Funding for small schools

Harborough’s MP will be leading a parliamentary debate today about
funding for small schools and village schools.
Neil O’Brien will take to his feet in Westminster Hall at around half
past four this afternoon to express his concern that, over the past
decade, rural schools have been twice as likely to close as those in
urban areas.
He’s also found out that, over the last 30 or 40 years, the number of
smaller schools has halved, whilst the number of really large primary
schools has ‘hugely increased’.
He says his speech will highlight under-funding in areas such as
Harborough – and outline solutions which could help our smaller schools
survive and thrive in the 21st century.
