Two Arrested After Stolen Car Abandoned

Two teenagers were arrested after a stolen car was abandoned in Kibworth on Friday evening.
Armed officers, police dogs and the Police helicopter were involved in the search for them after they fled on foot from the Mercedes in Dairy Way just before 8pm.
A 19 year from Kibworth was arrested shortly afterwards in St Wilfrid’s Close and the other, also 19, from Leicester was arrested in Merton Way.
A third man was also seen to leave the vehicle, but was not traced.
Police say the car was stolen in Loughborough earlier in the day and then picked up on a tracking device by the owner, who alerted officers.
Detective Constable Stephen Henderson said: “Through teamwork between the person reporting the incident, the officers responding to the incident and the police helicopter, two suspects were detained.
“Our enquiries are very much continuing.
“Anyone with any information in relation to the theft of the vehicle which they think could help our enquiries is urged to make contact with us.”
