Local Travel Store To Close

Travel firm Thomas Cook has announced that its Market Harborough branch is one of those facing closure – as holidaymakers continue to switch bookings from stores to online.
It’s shop in St Mary’s Place is among 21 high street outlets across the country which could be shut – leading to the loss of more than 300 jobs.
The company blamed hot summer weather for many holidaying in the UK last year – and issued a profit warning in November, when it revealed bookings for its winter package holidays were also down.
Thomas Cook says cuts and store closures are part of plans to “streamline” the business – and a consultation with staff and unions has now begun.
