Safety Concerns Prompt Parking Patrols

Harborough Town Football Club is urging members and parents to consider where they park, after a number of cars were issued with parking tickets on Sunday.

Council enforcement officers visited the car parking area shared with the rugby club off Northampton Road, as well as at the Leisure Centre, following concerns about safety.

Fixed penalty notices were placed on vehicles parked on double yellow lines and infringing other parking regulations.

The car parks often become full on Sunday due to the large number of children playing games at both clubs.

A spokesman for Harborough Town FC told Hfm: We became aware of the issuing of parking tickets at the weekend on vehicles that where parked within the public car park.

“We immediately contacted our members to inform them of this and to ensure that they park in accordance with the requirements of the operators of that car park.

“Given this is a public car park it is used by a number of people attending the leisure centre, rugby club, football club as well as local businesses so is always busy so parking is always challenging particularly at weekends with the number of sporting events being held”.

Harborough Council, responsible for enforcing parking regulations, said: “Busy areas, such as the football and rugby clubs at weekends, can become safety concerns.

“In response to concerns from residents, Harborough District Council civil enforcement officers ensure that parking in the District is safe, legal and responsible.”
