Fraudster To Pay Back Just Over £3,000

A fraudster who pocketed £20,000 raised for the son of murdered soldier Lee Rigby, at local fundraising events, has been ordered to pay back a little over £3,000 in compensation – seven times less than he took.
Gary Gardner was jailed for two and a half years in September after the cash – raised at charity truck pull events in Market Harborough and Medbourne – was never donated.
At a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing today, Leicester Crown Court was told Gardner asset’s only amounted to a little over £3,200.
The judge told the 56-year-old of Old Holt Road, Medbourne, he has three months to pay the compensation to the Jack Rigby Charitable Trust or face an extension to his sentence.
