flytipsignHarborough Council’s Tip-Off campaign, that has dramatically reduced illegal dumping across Harborough, and led to numerous prosecutions, is in line for national awards.

It’s been shortlisted in the Campaign Of The Year and Local Authority Success categories at the National Recycling Awards.

The use of covert CCTV has resulted in some flytippers being caught red-handed and homeowners have also been fined after dumped rubbish was traced back to them.

Cllr Jonathan Bateman, Cabinet lead for regulatory services, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award.

“We have a fantastic team whose tenacity for investigating fly-tipping across the district has been rewarded with an unprecedented level of success over the year in reducing incidents and catching those people breaking the law.”

The Awards take place in December.
