Winged Intruder Smashes Through Door

A Canada goose is recovering at Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital after making a very unplanned entrance through the glass front door of a house in Countesthorpe.

Homeowner Lynne Sewell said a loud bang had her convinced someone was trying to kick the door in – or that a car had crashed outside.

Instead, when she went to investigate, she found an unexpected visitor – a goose stuck halfway through the front door.

It is thought the airborne intruder became tired and slightly overconfident, misjudging its landing in spectacular fashion.

When staff from Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital in Kibworth received the call, they were braced for the worst, only to discover the goose had escaped with just a couple of minor cuts – though it was understandably in shock after its dramatic arrival.

Now back on more familiar ground, the goose is recovering well and will remain in the charity’s care until fully healed and flight-ready, before being released back into the wild.
